We set up Barrier Energy to offer the most efficient solar water systems based on the UK climate, at a price that is affordable to all.

Barrier Energy provides a service to the official trade only; and our reasons for doing this are based on knowledge and competence of the installer. We wish to supply accomplished installers and trade outlets with the most up-to-date solar equipment at cost-effective prices so enabling the customer a professional installation at an affordable price.

The principal goal of Barrier Energy is to be sympathetic about our environment, and improve the way we live through science and education. We have looked at the reasons why people were not participating in the use of free solar energy; and concluded there were three areas of contention, Lack of awareness, affordability, and fear of change. We decided the easiest and probably most important is the reduction in the cost of the systems.

The fear of change and lack of awareness is addressed in the Stern report; it proposes solar water heating amongst others as a cost-effective way to reduce CO2 emissions, and with approximately 25,000,000 homes in the UK eligible to use solar heating we could all make a large impact if we so desire!
